Hi my name is Laurie
and my story is similar to many WAHM's out there. I had a
very promising career at a fortune 500 Company, until the
day I got laid off. As they say, that is a day that will
live in infamy. Why you might ask? Because I had a
decision to make, whether to hit the pavement and start
knocking on the proverbial doors or make the leap and go out
on my own away from Corporate America.
Luckily for me, at
the time I was laid off our income was sufficient to sustain
our lifestyle as it was if I decided to go out on my own.
My husband and I had discussed the possibility of children
and that should we decide that we would build a family of
more than just the 2 of us, I would remain home with the
kids and that fact played a large part in my resulting
decision. I did not want to end up like so many women that
find themselves facing the decision of whether or not to
remain at their high paying job after children or to become
a stay at home mom.
I decided that we
were comfortable enough in our finances to strike out on my
own. I am a WAHM (Work At Home Mom) now, and and believe
me when I say I have tried just about every business out
there. Vitamin/Energy Products, Craft type products, I
became a certified instructor in a specific painting
technique, and many others but all of them left me wondering
"when do I start to make money?". Each business required
either high monthly minimum purchases (one Health Product
was a monthly commitment of $175 EVERY MONTH!), or high
Quarterly Quotas.
I got very tired of
being my own best customer in order to stay active and stock
pile products that, though I liked them, I really didn't
need! I will tell you that selling candles was never
something that I really put much thought into until I was at
a local expo here in Michigan and met a lady who was selling
Mia Bella Candles. She lit a Sweet Orange and Chili Pepper
candle at the start of the expo and I swear you could smell
that candle anywhere in the Expo room!
I ended up talking
to her a little bit about her business and products, but put
it out of my mind at the end of the day. A few weeks later
I received the most awesome smelling envelope in the mail.
For the life of me I could not figure out why my mail
smelled so good! That was until I came to Lisa's envelope
and opened it. In it was a small sample of that month's
candle (Coffee Break) and a pleasant letter again reminding
me about the
Candle of the Month Program. I still put it out of
mind, the holiday's were coming, I was short on my 4th Qtr
sales for another MLM Company that I rep for and I just
really didn't have the energy to take on a new MLM Company.
At the end of the
4th quarter last year, I ended up having to send out a
message to everyone I knew to ask if they would place even a
small order to help me reach my minimum. What did I get in
my email in addition to those "Thanks, but really
can't right now" notes? A note from another
Candle Rep, who asked if I had ever thought about joining
a company who had no minimums and no quotas?
I decided to revisit the Candle of the Month Program, and
requested Jill's info course on the business as well. I was
not about to get sucked into yet another MLM black hole.
I wanted something
that would provide an
on-going residual income.
You know, something that would continue to pay me
over and over for the work that I do one time.
Learning that the candle industry was a 3 Billion and
growing industry and that people use candles regularly,
I saw the potential staring me right in the face!!! I burn candles too, so why shouldn't I earn
money while doing something I do anyhow? I also wanted something
that would be a great fit with the Spa Products that I hand
craft that would compliment those products to create a
"whole package".
I decided to join
the ranks of those who were successful. I made a commitment
to educate myself on what was out there, select something
that worked for me, apply the time, dedication and
perseverance that I knew it would take and
reap the rewards!!! The team Jill was on and that I have
joined is just an incredible source of knowledge and
information and if they could do this and were so supportive
of my success- I knew that I could copy what they
did and have the same great results!!
